A set of two rare books on Moroccan architecture from my father’s collection. The book on ceramics is an illustrated “how to” tome on how to recreate your own Moroccan ceramics and zillij tiles. This set of books was written by the architect who built the royal palaces and other Moroccan landmarks. I had the books rebound to their original state about 20 years ago. In excellent condition suitable for a museum or an architectural library, or for any artist interest in learning about traditional and authentic Islamic art. Two of the most important books on Islamic crafts. From my family collection.

“Preface” to the book states …. “The aim of the work is to present hitherto unpublished photographic documents revealing certain unknown aspects of the traditional Moroccan Arts used in the architecture of that country and to transmit the knowledge of the most renowned master-craftsmen (maallem) of these traditional techniques. The reason for the rarity of these books is that they were only published once in 1980 as the said master-craftsmen were evidently not too happy that some of their age-old secrets had been published.”
