Let another year begin . . .

I woke up early last week, to find this message in my e-mail. May I brag a little? Mint Tea and Minarets is in the running for:

December 21, 2013

GOURMAND WORLD COOKBOOKS AWARDS 2013

YOU ARE THE WINNER IN U S A

YOU QUALIFY FOR THE NEXT “GOURMAND BEST IN THE WORLD” COMPETITION

WITH Mint Tea and Minarets. A Banquet of Moroccan Memories, Kitty Morse. Photos: Owen Morse

In the category:  Best Arab Cuisine Book

“You can win again in the next step.

The winner in each country will compete against winners in the same category in other countries for The Best in the World. The results will be announced on May 20-21, 2014  at the annual Awards event. It will take place in Beijing during the first “Beijing Cookbook Fair”, May 19-21, 2014.”

Other states, and other countries have their charms, but when my husband watches a televised football game taking place in 35 F below zero degrees (or lower) in Cincinnati or another northern city, and it is 75 degrees F in my back yard, forgive me if I dwell on how fortunate we are. I know, one gets accustomed to freezing weather, I lived in frigid Wisconsin for 9 years! Stay warm, all of you!
